The Annual Sports Day of Our School
The Annual sports and such functions are a part and parcel of school life. They teach the boys healthy habits."The annual sports day of our school came off last Saturday. The members of the staff and the students reached the ground at the appointed time. Some ladies and gentlemen of the town who were specially invited were seated in a row. Behind them were standing many spectators who had also arrived to witness the sports. The mile race was the main event. When its turn came, two of our top athletes took their positions. Soon they were running neck to neck. The spectators were clapping their hands and backing up their own favourite athlete. The potato race, the sack race and three legged race provided much amusement. In these events some of the most mischievous boys took part and made the spectators laugh by their quaint behaviour. At last prizes were given away to the winners by the Deputy Commissioner. At the end the Principal thanked the distinguished visitors. He also congratulated the winners. The function then came to an end with a tea-party.
