An Accident
An accident is really something fearful. In this age of high speed vehicles, accidents cannot be altogether avoided. They are bound to occur. Not a day passes without a fresh report of accident somewhere or the other. Recently, I myself got involved in a road accident. It was an early morning in the month of January. From Ludhiana I boarded a bus for Ambala around 6.30 a.m. There was thick fog all around, reducing the visibility to a few yards. As our bus was nearing Doraha, a tractor from a link road suddenly appeared on the G.T. Road in front of our bus. The bus driver was taken unawares. He at once applied the brakes but before the bus could stop, it dashed against the tractor. The tractor driver, getting panikly, jumped off and took to his heels leavings his vehicle in the middle of the road. The passengers too, got panicky and caused a stampede in the bus. The bus driver was badly injured. Three passengers sitting on front seats also sustained injuries. Luckily, there was no casualty. Many months have passed since this accident occurred. But the very thought of it makes me tremble with fear even now. Such accidents can be avoided if we observe the rules of the road properly.
