Life in an Indian Village
My grandparents live in a village. So I often go there to see them or spend a few holidays. Thus I have a first hand knowledge of life in an Indian village. It is totally different from city life. I don't see Crowded bazaars, congested streets, traffic jams and pollution of any kind here. Green, open fields stretch for miles around. A few 'kutcha' houses give shelter to a few hundred people only. Air, water, and vegetables are pure and fresh. The whole atmosphere is calm and quiet. Villagers are simple and innocent. They eat and dress most simply. All day they work in the fields. But they work without the hurry and worry of city life. The needs of villagers are limited. A barber, a cobbler and a couple of shops meet their needs. Social life is almost nil. People meet on marriagers and deaths only. Of course chaupal is active in the evening. The village well is also an interesting meeting place. So it is the river where small boys bathe. Villagers have a passions for faire with the coming of health centre and primary school, they have become awakened. Still, life in an Indian village is simple and natural
