A Flood Scene
During the rainy season almost all the rivers swells and some times they pose a serious threat to the life and property of the people. Last year the Punjab had plenty of rain. As a result the river Satluj was in flood. All the nearby villages seemed to float in several feet deep water. The villagers climbed to the roofs of their houses. They were virtually cut off from the rest of the world. Corpses of the cattle, hay stacks and sacks full of paddy were floating about in the water. The poor villager helplessly watched terrible havoc taking place before their eyes. The people heaved a sigh of relief when they sighted a helicopter appear in the sky. Perhaps the district authorities were making an aerial survey of the situation caused by the flood . within an hour or so the people saw a number of boats which had come to save them. The affected population and their valuables were taken to safe places.
