A Drowning Tragedy
One day, we went to the canal for bathing. We were about ten boys. We were swimming. We took off our clothes and jumped into the canal. My friend Raman was with us not know how to swim. He stood on the bank. We asked him to enter the canal. At my request he entered the canal. As ill luck would have it, his foot slipped. He fell into the water. He was washed away with the current of water. Water flowed over his head. He tries his best to come out of the water but all in vain. Listening to his cries, we all rushed to his help. Luckily all the other boys were good swimmers. We caught him by the arm and pulled him out. Water had entered his belly. He was senseless. We laid him down on the bank. A boy rushed to the doctor who gave him first aid. Water came out of his mouth. After half an hour Raman opened his eyes. The doctor told us that he was out of danger. We brought his home. He was able to talk to us. We heaved a sigh of relief. It was a great tragedy. His parents thanked the boys for the help. In the evening he was all right.
