An Ideal Teacher
Can there be ideal teachers even in a society like ours? Yes, of course, they are there, though very rare. And wherever there are any, they stand like oases in a desert. The desert is, no doubt, spreading very fast, but oases continue to bloom despite that. Here and there we do come across a teacher who rightfully deserves to be called an ideal teacher. Such a teacher is the pride of the institution to which he belongs. Such a teacher is also an asset to his country and to the human society at large. He works with devotion and dedication. Even in an age of cut-throat professionalism, he continues to teach with a missionary spirit. Even when most teachers have left honesty and have joined the ranks of 'cheats', he continues to hold aloft the banner of idealism and follows his principles. He reminds us of the legendary teachers like Daronacharya of ancient India who enjoyed the status of 'gurus' in their times. He is the Daronacharya of modern age whom pupils love, respect and adore. He has a charismatic personality and students feel naturally drawn towards him. He is their friend, philosopher and guide. Teaching is his first love. He is a master in his subject. But he always continues to be student. He is never tired of learning more and more. He radiates knowledge and wisdom. He bears a sound moral character. He believes in simple living and high thinking. In short, he stands for all that is good and noble in our society.
